2JS Mining is a Brisbane-based independent consultancy founded by Joey Stam. We work the gap where mining technology projects quietly lose value — prioritising backlogs for the operational game, translating between the site and the platform, and protecting the year-three roadmap, not just the year-one launch.

Started underground on shift at Kestrel, moved through mine planning and corporate resource development into studies, consulting, and software development across Rio Tinto, BHP, Deswik, and Anglo American — founding 2JS Mining in 2017 — and most recently as Product Owner on Rio Tinto's Mining Digital Twin portfolio.

- Mining ops × technology translation — working the overlap directly; prioritising digital backlogs for the operational game, not the proposal; translating superintendent frustration into product requirements, and product constraints back into something a GM will accept
- Product ownership for mining digital products — decision support, digital twins, and operational platforms; backlogs sequenced for what matters at the face, with year-three thinking baked in, not bolted on
- AI and decision-intelligence strategy — knowing which AI plays will land at the face and which won't survive year one; dataset-stage thinking that protects the long roadmap, not just the launch deck

## Engagement Model

Principal-level consulting and sub-contracting. Senior practitioner work, not a bench of juniors. Engagements range from short advisory to extended embedded delivery roles. We work with mining operators (junior and mid-tier as the focus; tier-ones where the engagement needs lived client-side experience), consulting firms delivering digital, AI, or product work into mining, and the technology vendors trying to serve the sector.
